So, I’ve previously sang the praises of the Moby wrap. I still love my Moby, but my baby is developing a mind of his own these days and not so happy about being tightly anchored against my chest with limited views of the scenery around him. It still works for naps (I took it on our road trip last week and he was content as long as he was sleeping), and I know when the baby has better neck control I’ll be able to play around with the wraps (side, back, etc), but until then, I’ve found another love.
Ergo Baby Organic Dark Chocolate Carrier
I bought the Organic Ergo in dark chocolate. I actually bought the newborn insert as well (since my baby is 4 months adjusted age), but it seems he’s too big for it. Guess I’ll be using that for the next baby.
The Ergo is great in different ways than the Moby is great. I love the Moby because it tucks your baby away so strangers can’t put their grubby hands on your baby’s hands. It’s also great for those sleepy newborn days when your baby just wants to snooze against your chest. The Ergo is great because it is so easy to put on. I mean…seriously…a couple clicks and voila! It’s great for even my husband to use, and his head would have exploded if I asked him to put the Moby on.
The baby loves the Ergo. He hates the Snugli and the Infantino that were re-gifted to us from former moms. I think I put him in them a few times each and he didn’t want any part of it. But the Ergo gets his stamp of approval. I think he likes it because he can still be against my chest, but have more freedom to move his hands and feet, and can see everything a lot better.
I love that the Ergo has an attached sun shade that you call pull over the baby’s head and snap to your shoulder straps. I used it the other day when we were walking near the beach on a sunny day and I had forgotten his sun bonnet.
It feels comfortable and has attached zippered pockets for storage—very convenient. For a few bucks more you can purchase the organic Ergo, which is safe on baby’s skin and environmentally-friendly.
Today I went to a doctor’s appointment and Costco and just used my Ergo, which was easy, comfy, and much lighter than lugging a baby carrier and stroller around.
The best part? Getting to hug my baby non-stop and be hands-free. Awesome.
