Let me just share my experience with hospital gowns.  I was supposed to have a homebirth.  So you know…I could birth in whatever I wanted, or completely naked–my choice. 

I ended up having a premature delivery that was totally unexpected.  I was rushed to the hospital, forced into a hospital gown (I had never stayed at a hospital before), and was stuck in it for a few days.  I had to go back and forth to the NICU in this oversized gown that didn’t close all the way, past tons of strangers…looking like a slow-moving cow dressed in a giant sack made of recycled curtains nobody would want.  It was ugly.  I felt ugly.

With that said, I can definitely see why somebody would buy one of these.

Maternity Clothes You Can Wear to Work

As a pregnant woman gearing up to go back to the classroom after a long summer of lounging in shorts and pajama pants, picking the right maternity clothes is vital.  For one, they must be comfortable.  I am off-and-on my feet all day, dealing with 40+ moody teenagers every hour until the bell rings.  Second, I want my maternity clothes to look good.  I want to stay professional-looking, not the kind of woman that becomes completely frumpy throughout her pregnancy.  Finally, I need practical pieces to wear that I can mix-and-match so I don’t have to drop a fortune on a wardrobe I’ll only (hopefully) be wearing for the rest of my pregnancy. 

I recommend picking basic colors to give you the versatility of wearing the clothes with lots of combinations.  I prefer picking basic black pants or a basic color skirt that can be paired up with whatever shirt I want to wear.  So, here’s a few good products that should last you:

It’s that time of year: summer.  This can be particularly problematic when you are pregnant and feeling like you’re too bloated to show any skin like you might otherwise if you weren’t carrying another life inside of you.  Do not fret!  There is absolutely no need to hide under frumpy clothes during hot summer days.  You can find goregous clothes that make you look cute (and stay comfortable) despite your growing tummy.  Also, personally I can’t stand these floral print tents they sell in maternity stores.  Don’t you agree?  Yes, you’re pregnant, but you don’t have to look like a tablecloth!  So, I’ve taken it upon myself to compile for you ladies a few of my summer time maternity picks.
